Dental Inlays and Onlays

If your tooth is too damaged for a dental filling but doesn’t yet require a full crown, our dental team may recommend a dental inlay or onlay. These restorations, often referred to as partial crowns, are custom-designed and milled from high-quality ceramic using advanced CEREC technology.

Before placing your dental inlay or onlay, our dentist will ensure it fits perfectly, restoring your tooth’s health, function, and appearance. Inlays and onlays are crafted to match the color of your natural teeth, making them a discreet and seamless restoration option.

Difference Between Dental Inlays and Onlays

Both inlays and onlays repair damaged teeth, but the two are slightly different. An inlay is used when the damage does not affect the cusps (the pointed parts) of the tooth. On the other hand, an onlay is used when the damage extends to one or more cusps. Our dentist will assess your needs and help determine whether an inlay or onlay is the best solution for your tooth. Both options are conservative, preserving much of your natural tooth structure while restoring strength and function.
