Did you know November 1st is National Brush Day? It was first recognized in 2013 as part of the Kids’ Healthy Mouths campaign, right after Halloween—a time when sweets are everywhere! The goal of this day is to remind parents about the importance of healthy habits in maintaining their children’s healthy teeth and overall wellness.
After indulging in Halloween candy, Thanksgiving pies, and Christmas treats, it’s easy for dental hygiene to take a back seat. However, this season of sweets is the perfect opportunity to reinforce the importance of brushing and flossing. Remind your children that brushing doesn’t have to be a chore—it just takes two minutes, twice a day to maintain a healthy smile.
You can even make brushing fun by turning it into a family activity. Play a song, brush together, or create a brushing chart with rewards for the family member with the best record. And don’t forget to remind your kids to brush gently around the gum line and reach the back teeth!
