Root Canal Therapy

The dental pulp is the central part of the tooth where the nerve, blood vessels, and connective tissues are located. The root canals extend from the tip of the tooth’s root into the pulp chamber. If the pulp becomes damaged or infected, our dental team may recommend root canal therapy to save the tooth. During this procedure, the infected pulp is removed, and the tooth is sealed to prevent further issues.

Root Canal Therapy Is Necessary When:

  • Severe tooth pain when chewing or applying pressure
  • A recurring or persistent pimple on the gums
  • Sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures
  • Swelling and tenderness in the gums
  • Darkening or discoloration of a tooth

If you experience any of these symptoms, it’s important to schedule an appointment with our dentist. During root canal therapy, the dentist will first access the pulp chamber, remove the infected tissue from the pulp chamber, and clean and seal the inside of the tooth. The procedure is completed with a dental filling, and in many cases, a crown is placed on the tooth to restore its strength and function.
