A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that covers the entire visible portion of a damaged tooth. Our dentist may recommend a dental crown in Hardin, Montana, to restore the shape, strength, size and appearance of a tooth. At Hardin Family Dental, we utilize CEREC technology, which allows us to provide dental crowns in a day. A dental crown may be the ideal treatment option for:
- A tooth with a large dental filling
- A weak tooth that is in danger of fracturing
- A tooth that is already cracked or broken
- A badly shaped or colored tooth
- A tooth that has undergone root canal therapy
A dental crown may also be used to restore a dental implant or to support a dental bridge.
Before placing a dental crown, Dr. Jeff Tulett will shape the tooth to allow room for the restoration. Then the tooth and the surrounding teeth will be digitally scanned using our CEREC technology. Your crown will then be designed for your individual smile. After the dental crown is milled in our office, the fit and color will be checked. Then your dental crown will be permanently cemented in place.
